Preface

Today we live in an era that is completely digital and full of various choices of applications on our smartphones. Almost every people has a smartphone. Sometimes one person can have more than one smartphone because it has become a demand for life in the current millennial era. If we want to order food without the hassle, want to shop for various needs, want to travel without having to be tired of driving and looking for a parking space or even traveling, now it is very easy with the application on our smartphones.

Likewise with the world of transportation, nowadays they also don't want to be outdone by following technological developments with the presence of online transportation, both two wheeled (ojek) and four wheeled (online taxi).

There are several online technology players both from within the country and online transportation applications from abroad. Call it gojek, an online-based application which is the pride of the Indonesian people. Gojek services include online motorcycle taxis, online taxis, goods delivery services, house cleaning services and even massage services which are combined into one practical application. For technology originating from abroad, for example, Grab (Malaysia), Uber (San Francisco, USA) and Maxim (an application from Russia). In various countries other types of online transportation have also developed, for example Ola (India), Didi (China) and others.

Online taxis have several advantages over existing public transportation, including:

• Practical and transparent

In the past, if we wanted to order a taxi, we had to call the taxi fleet and wait for the taxi to come, sometimes it could come quickly but not infrequently they took a long time to arrive. Now there is no need to bother anymore because by using the application we can immediately place an order and in just a few minutes our online taxi order will come and be ready to take us to our destination. The rates we have to pay are clearly stated in the passenger application so they are very transparent. Passengers do not need to worry about being charged an expensive fee or afraid that the driver will deliberately rotate them. Every driver has a trip target that must be achieved to get a bonus on that day so they try as fast as possible to deliver their passengers.

• Cheaper rates

Online transportation rates can be cheaper because the fare calculation is calculated based on distance traveled, especially for short distances, it can be ascertained that the fare is cheaper than conventional taxis. Online taxis are practical and there is no charge for opening the door once. They also often provide discount and reward promos so that passengers will feel benefited by these affordable rates.

•More reliable

To become an online taxi driver, there are several requirements that must be met by prospective drivers, including a clear identity (KTP) and a Certificate of Good (SKCK) from the police. All online driver data is registered with the company and has clear attributes. The passengers can also provide comments and satisfaction ratings for the driver. When there are problems or items are left on the car, passengers can easily track them to the driver. With this rating system, drivers will be more careful and try to minimize errors and provide maximum service to clients.

Besides the benefits for passengers, this application also provides several benefits for drivers including:

• Life insurance for drivers in the event of an accident.

When I first joined as an online taxi driver, the writer just wanted to try it. But it turns out that at that time it can provide a decent income, even though to get the maximum bonus we have to seriously undergo our profession. Sometimes I leave early in the morning after dawn, come home in the afternoon to eat and take a nap. After that, I continued in the evening until I closed the points to get a daily bonus, sometimes it was over until evening. The most important thing is cleverness in carrying out our work. The thing that is quite fun and valuable for me is always being able to meet new people all the time so that it can provide a colorful experience for me.


We can get unique, fun, amazing, thrilling, sad and sometimes annoying experiences from our passengers.

Through this diary I would like to share some of these experiences with you. In essence, we as drivers really hope that the presence of online taxis can provide benefits and convenience to passengers and can increase the choice of existing transportation modes.

Terjadi KDRT di Mobil Saya

Pengalaman unik saya yang pertama terjadi saat saya menjemput penumpang dari salah satu hotel di Kuta dengan tujuan ke Canggu. Saat itu tengah hari dan cuaca sangat panas menyengat. Sebenarnya jarak Kuta ke Canggu tidaklah terlalu jauh, tapi saat mengemudi siang hari lalu lintas bisa sangat macet sehingga menyebabkan waktu tempuh menjadi lebih lama sekitar satu jam perjalanan.  Penumpang saya jumlahnya dua orang satu lelaki paruh baya umur sekitar 50 tahun dan satunya lagi wanita dengan usia sekitar 45 tahun. Setelah memasukkan koper dan barang bawaan di bagasi saya sekali lagi mengkonfirmasi bahwa tujuannya sudah benar ke Canggu. Si ibu mengiyakan dan akhirnya mobil pun saya jalankan. Saya bertanya asal mereka dari mana, si ibu menjawab mereka berasal dari daerah Indonesia Timur. Tetapi saya merasakan ada yang aneh dengan mereka karena setiap pertanyaan yang saya ajukan selalu dijawab  dengan jawaban pendek-pendek oleh si ibu tanpa nanya balik ke saya. Do Yo Want Some Bintang?

Siang hari ini saya dapat order perjalanan dari salah satu hotel di daerah Jimbaran. Empat orang keluar dari lobby hotel tiga cowok bule dan satu cewek. Si cewek duduk di belakang bersama dua cowok lainnya sedangkan cowok satunya duduk disamping saya di depan. Tujuan kita saat ini adalah Bali Speed Gocart yang berada di daerah Keramas, Gianyar.  Perjalanan ke sana bisa ditempuh dalam waktu sekitar 40 menit sampai satu jam. Sebelum berangkat cowok yang duduk  di depan berpesan untuk berhenti di mini market dia mau belanja rokok katanya. Tepat di depan salah satu minimarket saya berhenti dan cowok yang duduk di depan masuk ke minimarket. Setelah beberapa menit belanja akhirnya dia keluar minimarket sambil membawa satu kresek besar belanjaan yang kemudian di taruh di bawah tempat duduknya. Ternyata kresek besar tersebut penuh berisi botol-botol beer lokal.  Dengan santai mereka minum beer di mobil saya, bahkan mereka menawari saya dengan minuman tersebut yang tentu saja saya tolak dengan

Penumpang dari Manakah yang paling Royal Tip?

Tak terasa sudah ribuan trip yang sudah saya selesaikan sebagai seorang pengemudi taxi online di pulau Dewata. Penumpang saya pun bermacam macam mulai dari anak-anak sampai kakek-kakek dan nenek-nenek. Mulai dari anak sekolah yang selalu menuntut untuk ngebut karena sering mepet berangkat ke sekolah, ibu-ibu borju yang belanja oleh-oleh berdus-dus di pusat oleh-oleh Krisna atau Agung Bali,  cewek-cewek kafe yang agak genit sampai bule-bule dari berbagai negara.  Pertanyaannya adalah wisatawan dari negara manakah yang paling royal memberikan tip? Berdasarkan pengalaman saya selama ini bule dari Belandalah yang paling suka memberikan tip, kadang besar terkadang juga kecil tetapi pasti ada lebihnya. Bule ataupun orang negro dari Amerika juga suka sekali memberikan tip dengan syarat perjalanannya panjang dan ngobrolnya seru.
